Florida State College pays tribute to heroes at 2011 Convocation

Grateful and inspiring words by leaders were capped off by moving military ceremony and dedication of Points of Hope
By Michael Corby Wed, September 21, 2011 5:22 pm EDT

Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown, Sheriff John Rutherford, JFRD Chief Charles Moreland, Navy Region Southeast Admiral Jack Scorby and Florida Lt. Governor Jennifer Carroll addressed Florida State College at Jacksonville faculty and staff at the annual Convocation ceremony, honoring our miltary, police, fire fighters and first responders. A memorial acknowledged those heroes and civilians lost on 9-11 and the aftermath. The event was closed with the dedication of the prototype for a memorial "Points of Hope" sculpture. The completed sculpture will be officially dedicated in October.
