Aircraft Services Educational Facility Fire Test Scores An A

Test of foam fire protection system exceeded expectations
By Michael Corby Fri, October 01, 2010 10:08 am EDT

In the Oct. 7 fire protection system test at Florida State College at Jacksonville's Aircraft Services Educational Facility, the largest system of its kind in the USA, what we expected to see was thousands of square feet of hangar space suddenly covered to a depth of three feet of foam that exploded out of 36 strategically placed foam generators. What we actually saw--more than a six-foot-deep sea of foam overflowing onto the tarmac-- exceeded the expectations of Project Manager Ed Rock of Florida State College at Jacksonville and Senior Project Manager Jamison Chattin, of Dana B. Kenyon Co., the builder of the ASEF. And quite necessary to keep workers and property safe in the event of a fuel spill or fire in the 76,000 + sq. ft. facility at Florida State College at Jacksonville's Cecil Center South.
